Artificially intelligent systems, the Internet of Things, and digital twins are among the most important technologies and trends that depend on data. Strictly speaking, these are not distinct technologies, but rather categories that combine several digital technologies and techniques for different applications.
When we talk about artificial intelligence, we’re usually referring to machine learning algorithms. These are models developed from training data that are meant to solve specific tasks, and through further training with more and newer data, they can potentially solve the tasks better and more efficiently.
The Internet of Things refers to a network of physical objects and sensors that are connected to the Internet. These can generate large datasets that can be analysed and, for example, fed into machine learning algorithms.
Lastly, we looked at digital twins—models of objects or processes that we can use for things like simulations, monitoring, and calculation, in a digital environment.
